A Quintessential Grace Church School Community Meeting

Four houses, one room, and a meeting that feels electric. Students from the Pigeons, Coyotes, Piping Clovers, and Falcons sit proudly with their house members. The busting chatter tapers off as the first speaker takes the floor. Papers shuffle, chairs squeak, and a low murmur runs through the room.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, speeches follow: highlights from the Hannah Arendt Conference at Bard (where Micah W. ‘26 was somehow able to steal the spotlight from the actual professionals) and Peter Bach-y-rita introducing Princeton’s summer program about critical thinking and convivial conversation, “Reason and Rationality.” Voices carry across the gym. The gym smells faintly of rubber and chemicals.

Finally, the most anticipated part: rock band! The Satelites and Diva Down play, and for a second, I think I’m in High School Musical. Some students clap, and others get up and dance the stress of the week away.

This is the beauty of Wednesday at Grace Church School—the opportunity to let your hair down and breathe in the middle of the week. And don’t worry, this isn’t a free-for-all; our community is also enriched by speakers and curated lab day classes.

Thank you, Wednesday, and thank you, Grace.
