JV Boys Basketball Beats Staten Island Academy in First Playoff Appearance
This past Friday, the JV Boys Basketball team beat Staten Island Academy in the A.C.I.S. Quarterfinals. The final score was 45-36, with the Grace Boys playing hard until the very end. I talked to Jackson Sohn ‘20, a member of the team, who said, “The season has been great and a huge improvement over last year and to make the playoffs feels like all of our hard work has paid off.”
Even though the boys have had a tough season going 4-9 in the league and 8-11 overall, they were able to pull it together and win crucial games to earn a playoff spot for the first time ever. Their hard work and improvement was evident with their first round win. Daniel Samoon ‘20, explained, “It’s definitely a good feeling to be the first Grace JV team to make the playoffs since the start of the high school. As far as the game this past Friday and upcoming on Monday, I think we are playing with a really good mentality as a team. I think we’ve really hit our stride and hope we can win tomorrow.”
Be sure to come out and support the team on Monday February 12 at Packer Collegiate Institute at 4:30, as the boys face Packer in the A.C.I.S. Semi-finals!
