Saying goodbye to teachers, classmates and staff that we’ve seen every day for four years was tough, but we know that there is so much ahead. This is not the last goodbye.

Walking into school this morning just felt like another Friday, but there were slight differences that reminded us it was our last school day. Candy grams were sent to seniors, teachers and students brought in food for final parties, and after school we gathered in the plaza and signed our yearbooks. Everyone had a slight sense of melancholy, but we had come together to say our last goodbyes.

We didn’t let the last day defeat us, but we joined as a community and as a grade as we wore our GCS spirit gear in 90 degree weather. Rather than wear our college gear, everyone wore our GCS apparel, showing that our school spirit prevails. We are reflecting on the past, but we are excited for the future and everything that it holds for us. The feeling of this year can be summed up with the quote on our new Class of 2017 plaque:

“Changes will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time.
