Throughout the years, the Grace Church High School’s Girls’ Varsity Basketball team has been extremely successful. From the high morale in the stands to last year\u2019s record-breaking season, the team continues to represent Grace\u2019s high athletic standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 2024-2025 season, the four captains — Philomena A. \u201825, Caitlyn P. \u201825, Daveonna V. \u201825, and Chloe R. \u201826 — will lead the team into the increasingly successful season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to ask these questions: What are you most excited about for the upcoming season? What are some things that people might be talking about in February?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with The Gazette,<\/em> Chloe R. \u201826 — known for her insane three-pointers and happy smile on and off the court — s<\/p>\n\n\n\n

aid she sees the team \u201cmoving forward and becoming better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since losing some of the best players and last year\u2019s captains — Alana A. \u201824 and Lina M. \u201824 — the Girls Varsity Basketball Team is ready to recapture the title again. While interviewing Chloe, she mentioned that \u201cwe are a more well-rounded and solid team.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philomena A. \u201825 said the teammates have created a very special bond and this has helped on the court. Philomena’s goal for the season is to strengthen and \u201cbuild a strong team on and off the court.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While playing sports, a key focus is having players and coaches who get along.  Basketball requires trust and this trust is built through team bonding. The Varsity Basketball Team has done a phenomenal job at balancing a championship-winning team that is filled with lots of positive and kind girls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As much fun as it is having a good group of girls, all of the captains expressed a desire to make it to the championships; the Grace Girls Varsity Basketball team is the reigning NYCAL  champions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most recently, the team had an amazing win on Friday, Jan. 10, against Friends Seminary. With the winning score, 45-35, the gym was filled with excitement.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From their silly jokes to their serious game faces, the Grace Girls Varsity Basketball Team are expressive and intense in the best way possible. Everyone is looking forward to watching their upcoming games and seeing the season unfold. Go Griffins!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
