The impact that this could have on the 2020-21 school year is still unknown. According to CDC director<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2020\/04\/21\/coronavirus-secondwave-cdcdirector\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Robert Redfield<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the second wave of the virus predicted to hit this winter, \u201cwill actually be even more difficult than the one we just went through.\u201d As a school located in the epicenter of the coronavirus, it is likely that next year&#8217;s school year will look different from what we are typically used to.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Discussion has been circulating amongst New York City independent schools regarding plans for the reopening in the coming school year. When asked about his prediction, Mr. Davison shared what he envisions the beginning of the 2020-21 school year to look like: \u201cOur hope for next year is that we will start right about on time, however, not everyone is going to feel comfortable coming to school.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gracegazette.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/GraceHS_Commons-Students-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3905\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gracegazette.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/GraceHS_Commons-Students-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/gracegazette.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/GraceHS_Commons-Students-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gracegazette.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/GraceHS_Commons-Students-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gracegazette.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/GraceHS_Commons-Students-512x341.jpg 512w, https:\/\/gracegazette.org\/wordpress1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/GraceHS_Commons-Students.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the diversity of thought and experience in our population, it will likely be a while until all members of the Grace community feel comfortable returning to school in person. However, in the meantime, the students and teachers who prefer to stay quarantined for their safety will be able to, \u201cparticipate with the rest of the class on zoom.\u201d As of now, Mr. Davison is hopeful that by the fall, around 80-90% of the Grace community will be able to return to in-person school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Should we return to school in September, some modifications will be made to our daily routine. Mr. Davison announced that we will be wearing masks.\u201c2,000 Grace masks were ordered and will be passed out to students and faculty,\u201d he stated.
