As Grace Church School enters its 125th year, it is important to reflect on the traditions that have been built since its opening. While many of the people, activities, and customs have changed over the years, plenty of unforgettable memories have been shared by all. To kick off this momentous year, we asked 125 students and teachers\u00a0one important question: what is your favorite thing about Grace?<\/p>\n

Junior Kindergarten<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHaving play dates with my friends\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying on the slides\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVeggie Chips\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing to Chapel\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDrawing, toys time, and playtime\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReading books with my book buddy\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRest\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur teachers\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"Kindergarten<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe roof\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHalloween\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like my 4th grade friends\u201d<\/p>\n

1st Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe free library\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love doing free time and also recess; also music and dance\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cArt\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing my friends and playing with the toys\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHomework\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe spirit and the griffin\u201d<\/p>\n

2nd Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThat it\u2019s fun to learn\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFree time\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat you can make a lot of friends\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRecess\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like to see my cousins and brother\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying Lincoln Logs\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat all my friends are here\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat there are awesome teachers\u201d<\/p>\n

3rd Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe church and the yard\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fun here\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the plays and events\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people that help you figure out problems\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLearning history\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe feeling of kindness when I enter the classroom\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lunches because the tacos and pasta and garlic bread are amazing\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy classmates and teachers\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family that got built here in the last 125 years\u201d<\/p>\n

4th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI think Grace is good because of the stained glass windows\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like how in Grace there are no bullies\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe empathy of the Grace teachers\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Roots of Empathy where babies come in, and we research them and see them grow\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace is a good school because it is an organized school\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRecess, yard, gym, snack, library, and free periods\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Grace is good because you learn tons of things and the things aren\u2019t boring\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace is good because it teaches something that most schools forget: love\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

5th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI like Grace because everyone is kind and you can make many friends\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the ice cream\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like tutorial because if I have any questions about the homework or a project the teacher is in their room, and they can answer my questions\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat it is very educational and open for anybody\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like that we don\u2019t have so much homework that we stay up till 1:00 am\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe grades are all teams, and they work together\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like that there is a balance between the relaxing time and the curricular periods\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe teachers are all nice and inspiring\u201d<\/p>\n

6th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is that they hire nice teachers\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat we have independence\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the diversity and we all work together as a team\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is so friendly and kind to others\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe community and the feeling of being in my second home\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is the community because they will pick you up when you fall and help you through it all\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think how we learn is super cool\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is that there is equipment in school to play with and to work with. That means that Grace is a privilege to go to and I am thankful to go here\u201d<\/p>\n

7th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe diversity and openness to everything\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace is special because of the unity from within the faculty to the student body\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people are always so welcoming and kind and don\u2019t hesitate to make you feel welcomed\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe great community\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace has a great learning experience, and I always have a lot of fun\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe great faculty\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace is an amazing school for its community filled with passionate and loving people that will be in all our lives forever\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that Grace is an amazing school since the community and atmosphere is amazing. I hope someone reading this in 125 years still thinks the same\u201d<\/p>\n

8th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is the sense of community\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel safe here in the very inclusive environment\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is my friends\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the thoughtfulness of the teachers. They always come over-prepared with lesson plans unmatched by any other schools. I find that I learn more every year, more than I ever would if I went to any other school\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is how people don\u2019t judge you when you mess up\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy absolute favorite thing about Grace is the friendly and supporting environment within the school\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite thing about Grace is the people at the school\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best thing about Grace is my friends that I have made throughout my years here\u201d<\/p>\n

9th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe people and the community\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe teachers\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like how there\u2019s the church, but it\u2019s open to everyone\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like how everyone\u2019s friends in different grades\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSports\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like the access to technology\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount of classes and the liberty given to the students\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like the inclusiveness, having not come from the middle school it made it a super easy transition\u201d<\/p>\n

10th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWith the schedule and how unique it is\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAthletics\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cafeteria food is really good\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cross Country team\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat I don\u2019t have to go to P.E. if I play a sport\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe community\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe food\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fencing team\u201d<\/p>\n

11th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe faculty being willing to support everyone\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBoys Volleyball\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe neighborhood\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat I can have a double lunch\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLab Day\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe camaraderie\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat we get to come in at 9\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJos\u00e9\u201d<\/p>\n

12th Grade<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount of choice in what you\u2019re able to learn about\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like how the teachers like to have fun in their classes\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 4th floor basketball court\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe students and teachers are very personable\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe food\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the extracurriculars\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSSRs and SSAs\u201d<\/p>\n

Teachers and Faculty<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe faculty that I work with\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe autonomy to creatively educate and respond to the needs and curiosities of my students\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing greeted by Jos\u00e9 and Daron\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrace has created an atmosphere built upon open minds, ever-evolving visions and based on the foundation of tradition\u201d<\/p>\n
