Opening day brought not only hope and anticipation of what is to come this baseball season, but also many questions. For the Yankees, there are many questions regarding health that need to be answered. Will Masahiro Tanaka make it through the year? Will CC Sabathia pitch well after surgery? Will A-Rod play well in his return from his suspension? Will the Offense show up in games and score runs for the team?<\/p>\n
The biggest question though is starting pitching. Will their pitchers pitch well enough for them to contend? Every Yankee fan, always hopes for the best and knows that a third straight missed October would not be good, so lets hope that this team surprises and makes the playoffs.<\/p>\n
For their crosstown rivals, the Mets, their fans have high expectations and they begin with their starting pitching. \u00a0Matt Harvey returns from Tommy John surgery and leads a dynamite pitching staff that includes defending NL Rookie of the Year Jacob DeGrom and Bartolo Colon. The Mets look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2006. They can do so with this dynamite pitching and timely hitting from guys such as Lucas Duda and Curtis Granderson who they signed from the Yankees at the beginning of last year. The one question is if everyone can stay healthy because they will need all of their talent to have a chance to win.
