In light of the\u00a0recent controversy of the sexual allegations against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump\u2019s nominee to the Supreme Court, we asked students and faculty to share their opinions on the issue. Kavanaugh has been accused of sexual assault on three separate occasions, spanning his years at Georgetown Prep and Yale University. Dr. Blasey Ford, a former high school peer of Kavanaugh, levied the first accusation against the judge, resulting in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing broadcasted on national television. The first accusation from Dr. Blasey Ford was given a hearing that was presented on live national television.<\/p>\n

Many conservatives have rallied\u00a0<\/span>against Democrats, trying to push through the Senate\u2019s vote in Kavanaugh\u2019s favor. In fact, many Conservatives are calling the accusations a staged attack by the Democrats, with Kavanaugh claiming that \u201cThis whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit, fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election… revenge on behalf of the Clintons and millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups… This is a circus\u201d (Updates From the Riveting Testimonies of Christine Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh, The New York Times). Trump wrote in a tweet, \u201cJudge Kavanaugh showed America exactly why I nominated him. His testimony was powerful, honest, and riveting. The Senate must vote!\u201d Many Democrats, on the other hand, have praised Dr. Ford for her bravery, as Republicans are worried that they will lose control of the Senate if Kavanaugh is not elected. As Kavanaugh was accused of sexual misconduct in high school, the case has been a particularly incendiary conversation topic amongst the high school students.
